Thanksgiving is the time of year when people give thanks for what they are thankful for, and at our first ever PDC Friendsgiving we did just that and more. The PDC Friendsgiving was held the day after initiation and was the perfect way to welcome our new brothers into this lifelong brotherhood. Thanks to Jessica Pu, we were able to host our dinner at the Capri Clubhouse, which was the perfect location for our event! The Clubhouse had a kitchen area, bathrooms, plenty of space, and more than enough tables and chairs to seat everyone.
The amount of food present just amazed us, and we were thankful for everyone that contributed a dish, drink, or utensil! There was a variety of meats including Publix Fried Chicken, bacon, ham, and chili! Alongside the meat dishes there were vegetables, sweet potato mash, mashed potatoes, and chicken pot pie. By popular vote, the winning dish on everybody’s heart turned out to be John Wang’s Cottage (Shepherds) Pie, both enormous and scrumptious enough to keep brothers coming back for more. There was also an entire table dedicated to desserts that included pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie, cookies, macarons, and much more.
After everyone had their first, second, and maybe third plate of food, brothers participated in the Delta Delta Mannequin Challenge filmed by Lucia. Our Mannequin Challenge was special. Most of the brothers had teamed or grouped up with other brothers to create a pose together. Several brothers pretended to be fighting, some were feeding each other while balancing on one leg, and some were portraying what a great time they were having. It was hilarious and also demonstrated the bond we have made over the past months — something we will continue to nurture in the unforeseen future.
When all was said and done, it truly was good food with good company, and we hope everyone had as great of a time as we did. For the brothers that were not able to make it, we hope that next year you can join us at our Friendsgiving.
